Since you're part of Team Avatar now [ that's what she calls all her friends, dw about it ] that means I get to call and check up on you, make sure everything's okay, the whole kit 'n caboodle.
[ beat ]
Sooo, yeah! And also some friends and I are heading south for a week or two so if I don't answer you back right away, that's why.
[On the morning of the 25th, Jack will be found by a crow with a bag attached to its leg. Inside it is a scarf with a snowflake pin and a handwritten note.]
I know you probably don't need it, but wear it, you idiot.
[ Alice's imps will leave a card, in addition to a cannister of loose-leaf tea that she's blended herself, in a strange tea cup. If you feel so inclined, there's a small box of cookies she's made. A Wonderland signature, but still very much an Alice thing to do. ]
[ along with a couple things of mako's homemade instant ramen "i'm in the woods, desperate and hungry and i have water i can boil" emergency rations, a fairy brings jack a knife knife with a thin, trailing vine pattern on the hilt, and a small plain sheath and red cord to tie it to something with.
with it is a note signed "馬高" because mako's too lazy to practice writing his name in english. ]
[ you really should watch where you're flying, jack. if you goof off too much you could end up running into the hawk that's delivering your gifts!! in addition to the tassel with coin for luck, the hawk carries a box with a pair of handmade moccasins, lined with wool and toasty warm. instead of the signature "well wishes" in chinese lettering, korra leaves jack a more personalized note: ]
Wear them once and I won't consider this a waste of my skill. - Korra
[ Wrapped in unremarkable Christmas paper that was pilfered from someone else at the Station, Jack will receive a hand-made/dyed leather-bound notebook with a few snowflake designs stitched into the cover. It's very sturdy, thick, and comes with a newly sharpened box of charcoals.
The note inside reads: ]
I may not be able to remember the first time we met, but I said I would make you something for your artwork so here you go (you can draw in something more long-lasting than ice, which I think is going to be amazing once your collection gets going). I'd love to see what you come up with!
[The video starts with an image of a man that Jack likely won't recognize. It is obvious the man is stressed and worried about something.]
I am sorry to bother you. Please call me Lan--
[Diarmuid cuts off here realizing that just calling himself Lancer might unfortunately link him to some of the anti-Unseelie actions that have been going on lately and that is the last thing he wants to do.]
My name is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne. We have not met, but we share a friend who needs your help right now. Her name is Merida. I was visiting her and she suddenly collapsed, falling into a deep sleep that I cannot awaken her from no matter what I try. If I am recalling correctly, she mentioned that happened to you once?
[He's definitely confused by the strange man who appears in his locket and for a moment, he just watches with squinted eyes as he waits to figure out what this guy's doing looking for him (Lord Frost, why are there people who call him that, it is so weird). But as he listens, his apathetic stare transforms into widening eyes and a gaping mouth as he learns of the news.]
What ... ? Wait, what are you saying? What do you — Merida's asleep? Like, really asleep?
[ Not long after finding out Faolin's death and details behind it, Alice cannot get it out of her mind. She needs to talk to someone about this, and Jack Frost is one of the two people she trusts with this. ]
[It's been a while since he's heard from her. Primarily his own fault, getting caught up with his own plans of flying about, taking his own orders on how to go about this war. But it's still always a relief to see her.]
[ Unless Jack is somewhere impossible to reach, an owl made completely of crystal seeks him out to drop a package near him. Inside is a cord tied to a crystal in a manner to make a necklace that isn't too feminine. A letter is also included. ]
Jack, In order to activate this, you need to turn into a human and prick your finger. Spread your blood on the crystal and let it soak within the mineral. It will. When active, it'll glow cerulean and allow you to speak with me via voice at any given time.
It can't be used to contact others. Use it in case of an emergency. Don't use the locket to contact me personally. Ever. If you do, I'll kill youtrap you in a bottle be very mad.
-Rin
[ Congratulations on the additional bling. As Rin wrote, this item will only work between Jack and Rin, as no other can break into it. ]
Hey, Jack. Uh. This is Bolin, by the way. [ Okay so, as far as Bolin's concerned, Jack's got his priorities in exactly the right place right now. Helping people. A+. He makes sure to try and keep more positive attitude in his tone than the opposite in light of this.
And normally he'd probably have just popped right in on the network about this, but then he has to consider the monarchs-- pretty much the first time he's really thought about that, as far as chatting with someone on the other end of the courts goes. Small talk is one thing, is all. This is another.
After Korra and Mako's... incident, he guesses it could probably kind of look like aiding and abetting the enemy in a time of war or something. From a strict kingly or queenly perspective. There's a thin line to consider.
Man, what a jerk of a month this has been so far. Nothing on how October started out, but definitely a contender. ]
I wanted to let you know that if you ever need help getting people to a safe place, you can call me. Or even if you just want help. Either way. [ Like, he's not picky. ] I'll do whatever I can.
[If anything, it's almost enough just hearing the familiar voices that brings a comfort, relieved to have an update to know that certain people were alive and well in the midst of everything. But Bolin's message does even more than just that with his words that has Jack smiling on the other end.]
Good guy Bolin. That's you, huh? [Always the nice guy, this takes it to another level.]
Thanks. I mean that. People keep saying a lot of this is pointless. But ... there's nothing pointless about trying to protect people through this. I'm glad to know more people believe that.
[She's been...hesitant about calling Jack since waking up, if only because she's been gathering her thoughts for the last day. It was hard to tell right now how much of the dream, either dream, had happened, expecting to wake up back in DunBroch, but when that didn't happen she felt a sense of...sadness? She hadn't been sure what she should feel sad about, which confused her the most.
So when Jack's locket flicks on to record the message, it shows Merida, looking still much the same, except for perhaps a couple of years older. There's a change in her posture, even as she looks down at her twined fingers in her lap, pursing her lips together.]
[Just as he expects, it only takes a week for her to come back. But he doesn't expect how she looks when she does. She's definitely older, though he's not exactly sure how much. At least it hadn't been anywhere near his length of time away.]
You're okay. [At least she looks it, unsure of how she might be emotionally from it all.]
( Clarke has no idea what the Drabwurld dictates to be a good 'thanks for making sure an entire forest didn't burn down!' gift, so she's going to wing it. an imp will find Jack wherever he happens to be in the Drabwurld and deliver him a small box containing some harder to find first-aid supplies, a little batch of cookies from a local baker, and a small collection of tokens and favours from people that had been able to travel through La Llorona to the safety of the Third Spire due to Jack (et all)'s efforts. Clarke writes her own short note to accompany the package. )
I'm not sure if this is something people do here, but where I come from, I've learned you thank people however you can. I know you didn't have to help La Llorona, but I appreciate that you did. If I can ever return the favour, just let me know.
-Clarke

[His chest tightens when he hears her message and he knows he can't escape it. He's been avoiding her for a while, not wanting to talk about it, not wanting to talk about anything, but there she is.]
It's not me. [His tone is darker than it usually is, the signature spark of joy missing. He goes into a pause afterwards, struggling nowadays in knowing what to say before he finally just speaks up.]
[A couple of days after Dave's network post, Jack is visited by one of his wood birds carrying a letter with his name and a doodled snowflake on it. (Papyrus but written with a pen like only Dave would do.)
In the letter he explains he's learned lockets are being watched and that's why he's worked on this little project of enchanting toys as a carrier service. If Jack ever needs to send a letter or small package through a safe messenger, these gals are at his service. He also says that he knows Jack problaby gives a damn about this and would probably rather do the delivery himself by freezing a thing or two, but considering how difficult the war situation, he'd rather be safe than sorry. He warned you, bro, no complains in the future.
The little bird will stay for a moment, perched on Jack's staff (not bothered by the cold) in case there's anything to bring back before returning to its master.]
[Jack's mood hasn't exactly been in the best of shapes since the major battles of the month, but he's definitely intrigued when he's suddenly approached by a peculiar bird. When he reads the letter, he scoffs into a short laugh, shaking his head before he actually smiles to himself.]
Letters for safety, huh? Might as well use it, right? [He directs his comment to the bird, who he doesn't know will even understand either way before scrambling for a piece of paper. He takes extra care in writing his message. Folding it well before placing a special stamp of ice over the fold to make sure it isn't read before it reaches Dave's hand.] Alright, little birdy. You give this to your guy and make sure he gets it, got it?
[So the letter is hopefully sent well on its travels. And if it reaches Dave again successfully, the note will merely say this:]
