[His chest tightens when he hears her message and he knows he can't escape it. He's been avoiding her for a while, not wanting to talk about it, not wanting to talk about anything, but there she is.]
It's not me. [His tone is darker than it usually is, the signature spark of joy missing. He goes into a pause afterwards, struggling nowadays in knowing what to say before he finally just speaks up.]
[There's a pause as she takes in his tone of voice, noticing the lack of a tease or joking lilt in there. It could just be a reaction to what she said, but she makes a small noise.]
Compasses. [He answers fast without thinking. Because he doesn't want to see anyone, he can't. At least that's what he tells himself, having avoided any physical interaction for the past few weeks. But then he thinks of everything that's happened, the things he and Merida have been through together and he knows better.]
Aye. I...have some news as well. I think it'd be better in person.
[She hesitates a little when she says that. She'd been wanting to avoid talking about it with anyone for as long as she could, but he'd have to know eventually. Jack is one of her most important friends, and while he might take it badly, he'd eventually come around, she knew. Merida sighs.]
I don't want to see th' Station after everythin' so...would you mind comin' here? We're a bit warm on th' inside but we can take a walk out in th' fields.
[So he shuts off the locket and immediately goes into flight. He's safe for the most part, his speed presenting an advantage to him. Tensions have grown high between the two lands, making land travel essentially dangerous for anybody crossing over the map, but he makes do in the air where he can glide without too much worry.
So he flies out towards her way, landing a little bit a ways from the fort. It wouldn't be hard to spot him, not with the constant snowfall that looms over him, a condition that's become rather regular within distance from him.]
[Merida is talking to a tall, native Seelie woman when he arrives, wrapped in a warm looking fur cloak, which she needs by the look of her shorter hair. The woman leans up when she spots him, hand wrapped around her lance before Merida hits her shoulder with the back of her hand and leaves her side to meet him, a puppy following after.]
Hey.
[She reaches up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear, lips pursed together. Before he can say or do anything, Merida's arms reach out to wrap around him, folding around Jack in a hug.]
(wow like half the tags in here are Mer) March. voice. compass
voice. compass.

We need to talk.
