Saber really didn't think the freezing conditions were Jack's fault, but the responsible king in her needed to make sure that it wasn't him. So, concentrating with her second sight given to her by High-King Reul back in January, Saber first honed in on Jack's shard before she focused her eye upon him.
And with him in sight, she teleported next to him. The king was dressed in her more formal dress with a heavy cloak and her silver crown upon her brow. She looked at Jack with sad eyes.
[It used to be in Jack to make frequent visits throughout the map, slipping in uninvited to wherever the wind took him. But as of late, the motivation to fly had been lost, echoing from the events of last month's battle. The death of the Jabberwock had taken a bigger toll on him than expected, after having promised to protect her upon the realization that she was a mere child. But he couldn't achieve that promise, breaking his vow as a Guardian to protect children at all cost.
So instead, he escapes, in the way that he does when his mind gets lost, forcing the distance between him and the rest of the world to be as long as possible. The only place he thinks is around the lands of Air Leth, quiet as it is with nothing but ruins. At the edge of one of the cliffs, a soft snowfall showers from overhead, created from the heaviness of his own emotions as he sits with his legs hanging over the edge, looking out to the emptiness of the ocean.
He's convinced he can remain alone until the sudden appearance of someone all too familiar appears beside him. He jolts slightly when he sees her, but after a moment, he sighs, looking away again into the distance.]
[He'd heard about the fierce ice on the mainland. Feeling as powerless as he does now, he doubts it really has anything to do with him. He shrugs, with a slow shake of his head.]
Nope. Not this time. Though I guess it's not surprising that everyone's first guess is that I'm causing trouble. [A natural guess, really, and almost any other day, he'd laugh at the idea.]
There's ... it's nothing. Just thought I'd take a vacation. Turns out the spirit life isn't always laughter and rainbows. Could ya believe that?
[That just got Saber to raise an eyebrow. Really, the spirit life for her was almost never rainbows and laughter for her. It was war and blood and strife and pain with the promise of a miracle at the end of it. And end she could never reach...]
That is life, Jack. Not just the spirit life. It is these times that make the good ones even more precious.
Good ones? But what's the point if we can't even —
[Looking towards her, he stops himself, letting out a breath. He hadn't wanted to talk about this. There was a reason why he avoided company. But it squirms through his insides and he needs to say it.]
She had a name. The jabberwock. She had a name — Nemexia. She was just a kid. She loved snow and puzzles and playing. She hated the rot. She suffered because of it. And I told her I'd take care of her. She got washed off of the rot with the lavender and she was happy. And I told her good things would come. And then they —
[They killed her.]
Where are her precious times now? Where are the moments I promised her she could have?
['There was peace in death,' Saber almost said. It was the truth, and when one suffered as much as she had heard the Jabberwhelp had, it was probably for the best that she had found that peace. It didn't change the fact that the child should never have been born and everything regarding her was the fault of the Seelie.
Instead, Saber reached out to gently touch Jack's chest.]
They are here. You carry them, just as you carry those moments for all children, no matter what became of them.
[Even the most hardened of men, or the most broken, or those that cast their childhood's aside and grew up too fast were children once.]
A great big blue mug with snowflakes painted on is sent to Jack, along with hot cocoa mix. The sender isn’t identified, but who else can give away that stuff so freely?

I had come to make sure these snows were not your doing, but I can see now that they are not. This melancholy is unlike you. What is on your mind?
